CARNIVAL OF COLOMBIA
Barranquilla Carnival: Held in the second week of February for four days. The Carnival of Barranquilla has a tradition of more than one hundred years. Is the staging of symbolic values and codes in various subcultures of the Colombian Caribbean, generated by miscegenation that gave rise to the present population of this region of Colombia.
Carnival of Blacks and Whites: It was declared a National Cultural Heritage by the Congress of the Republic of Colombia in April 2002, is celebrated mainly in Nariño Pasto and other municipalities from 4 to 6 January each year and attracts a considerable number of tourists from all over the country. The carnival includes four major stages: the pre-carnival, carnavalito, the arrival of the Castaneda family, the day finally blacks and whites day.
Bogotá Carnival: held annually during the 5th and 6th of August to coincide with the anniversary of the founding of the city Hispanic. Most of the events of the festivities take place in the Parque Simon Bolivar and in the streets and squares of the city center. The first edition of the carnival in the XXI century, took place on the anniversary number 467 and was called "The celebration of diversity", his motto was: "Celebrate life and express yourself as you wish." The festivities also include pre-carnival festivities that take place during the month of July. One of the main objectives of the carnival is to reflect and promote cultural diversity and musical Colombia.
Devil's Carnival: Riosucio-Caldas. The Devil's Carnival is all a big ceremony, full of magic, spells fencing, hierarchies and many processions which are interspersed all Colombian cultures. Until 1912 this event was called "Amusement Matachinescas"
